Stéphane Beaudet

Software Engineer | Infrastructure & Tools | Aspiring Team Lead

Overview

Welcome to Gadgetsan.ca—served directly to you from my personal Kubernetes cluster. I'm a Software Engineer trained at École Polytechnique de Montréal, currently thriving as a Tools Programmer in the video game industry. My specialty? Building the infrastructure, automation, and internal tools that eliminate bottlenecks and make development teams faster, happier, and vastly more efficient.

Mission

To replace development friction with pragmatic, highly scalable DevOps solutions. I believe in automating the mundane, architecting robust systems, and stepping up as a leader to cultivate an engineering culture where developers can actually focus on what they do best: building great software.

Core Competencies

Focusing on developer experience and bulletproof infrastructure:

Tools Development
DevOps & Automation
Cloud-Native Architecture
Backend Engineering
CI/CD Pipelines
Technical Leadership

Technical Stack

  • Languages: C#, Python, SQL, and enough YAML to configure the world
  • Frameworks: .NET
  • Infrastructure & Tools: Docker, Kubernetes (k3s), Git, CI/CD

Core Values

  • Presence: Tackling the problem directly in front of me with full attention and intention.
  • Passion: Giving a damn about clean architecture, reliable pipelines, and the craft of software engineering.
  • Curiosity: Tinkering relentlessly. If I'm not optimizing a team's workflow, I'm probably upgrading my home lab.
  • Fun: Taking the work seriously, but never ourselves. Building cool things with a great team should be an enjoyable ride.

Off the Clock

I firmly believe that the best engineers are well-rounded humans. When I'm not untangling CI/CD pipelines or maintaining my home server (affectionately named Spinoza), you can usually find me out for a long walk to clear my head, or hitting the pavement to train for my next 4km run.

On the quieter days, I'm likely building LEGO sets, experimenting with 3D printing, or relaxing with my Steam Deck. My current gaming rotation includes Wuthering Waves, Expeditions 33, and Persona 5. I share my home—and occasionally my keyboard—with my cat, Locke.

Creative Exploration

Beyond professional work, I'm passionate about creative coding and experimentation. This website serves as a playground for exploring new ideas—hosting WebGL visualizations, interactive simulations, and other experimental projects. The Stuff section is dedicated to these creative explorations, from algorithmic art to interactive data visualizations.

I believe that experimentation is essential to growth as an engineer. Whether it's exploring a new graphics technique, prototyping an interesting algorithm, or just tinkering for the sake of learning—these projects represent the joy of building things purely for the process and the discovery.
